Natural, not grown
inclusions
A laboratory sapphire is chemically the same stone, and it is flawless, which is exactly how you catch it. Silk, healed fractures, a crystal caught mid growth: those are not damage. They are the only proof anyone has that a stone grew in the ground instead of a furnace.

Silk
Needles of rutile, laid down while the crystal grew. Cut well, silk is what gives a Ceylon stone its soft glow.
Healed fracture
A crack the crystal repaired itself, ages before anyone found it. The veil of droplets is the scar.
Guest crystal
Another mineral, swallowed whole as the sapphire grew around it. A furnace has nothing to swallow.
